A new life for the Maternité de La Casamance's equipment
Posted on 07/30/2018On Monday 12 March 2018, the maternity unit at Hôpital Privé La Casamance closed its doors. Much of the equipment remained on the premises, ready to support new births...
For the Director of Care at La Casamance, "this functional equipment absolutely had to be used to meet other health needs". So it was only natural that humanitarian associations were contacted to give a second life to all these devices.
In collaboration with a practitioner from the Maternité de La Casamance and the NGO Gynécologie Sans Frontières (GSF), the Brive Sikasso Association team was asked to collect various items of equipment (cradles, baby scales, neonatal resuscitation tables, incubators, etc.). This equipment will be sent to Sikasso (Mali) in early January 2019, for the local hospital.

The Association d'Aide Humanitaire Médicale Internationale (AHMI ) was delighted to respond to our proposal via a paediatrician working in Marseille. The team of volunteers took delivery tables, changing mattresses and an incubator with them for distribution and installation in several African countries (Chad, Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso).

We are eagerly awaiting news of the installation of this equipment and hope that it will meet the needs of local populations as effectively as possible.
