As a reminder, on Monday 12 March 2018, the Maternity Ward at Hôpital Privé La Casamance closed its doors. The functional equipment had been entrusted to 2 humanitarian associations so that they could give it a second life.

In the end, the container of medical equipment donated to the Brive-Sikasso association arrived in Sikasso (Mali) on 7 February 2019. It was opened and distributed on Saturday 9 morning in the presence of the Mayor and the authorities, with coverage from ORTM, the Malian TV station.

All the equipment has been transported and distributed to the various health centres:

  • 1 neonatal resuscitation table, 3 cradles and 1 baby scale were given to the reference health centre (considered to be the District Hospital), which carries out 4,500 births a year;
  • 1 incubator, 1 neonatal resuscitation table and 4 cots were transported to Sikasso Regional Hospital;
  • 2 other baby scales were sent to the Mancourani and Médine community health centres.

Well done to this dynamic association, which works as closely as possible with the local population!
