ROBOT-ASSISTED BARIATRIC SURGERY

Posted on 05/17/2019

From 17 to 18 May, the European Obesity Days 2019 take place.

To mark the occasion, we are talking to you about robotic surgery to perform By-pass (an operation that consists of reducing the volume of the stomach and modifying the food circuit).

On the occasion of the 2019 European Obesity Days, La Casamance is joining in and presenting the work of Dr Leyre, the only bariatric surgeon in the Marseilles region to offer robotic surgery for by-pass operations on a Y-shaped loop.

Since the beginning of the year, around ten patients have already benefited from this technological advance, which allows for greater precision in the surgical procedure and less pain than conventional laparoscopy.

Since 2000, Hôpital Privé La Casamance has continued to develop its comprehensive, coordinated care for patients suffering from severe or multi-complicated obesity.

As Dr Leyre points out: "We are able to treat all types of obesity at the hospital. Although the most spectacular aspect of our activity is robotic surgery, the essential point of our care remains the multidisciplinary nature of the team, the quality of the preparation for the operation and the post-operative follow-up.
