Since the start of the epidemic, the entire team at La Casamance has been working to reinforce the barrier measures in place from the moment patients enter the clinic: limiting access, putting in place security guards and a receptionist responsible for taking their temperature and disinfecting their hands with a hydro-alcoholic solution in accordance with the protocol in force.
With regard to consultations with the medical team, in accordance with ARS requirements, all non-urgent appointments were postponed, thereby limiting the risk of spread within the clinic. However, continuity of medical monitoring was ensured thanks to the teleconsultation offered by practitioners via the Doctolib platform.
As for surgical procedures, they followed the same pattern: a daily OR consultation was held to assess the benefit/risk balance for the patient and decide on the need to continue with certain operations. Only urgent operations that could result in a loss of chance for the patient, and the management of oncology patients, have been maintained.
As part of the white plan, the Hôpital Privé's crisis unit was activated, making it possible toanticipate orders and implement a specific procedure for the arrival of suspected or confirmed patients. To enable COVID + patients to be isolated, a 40-bed hospital ward was dedicated exclusively to their care. The critical care departments have been reorganised: intensive care capacity has been increased from 13 to 25 beds and 6 continuous monitoring beds dedicated to COVID have been installed.
The treatment of COVID patients was made possible thanks to the commitment and dedication of the hospital's professionals, whom we would like to thank.
Casamance was very touched by the donations it received, with fine gestures of solidarity from all over the region: deliveries of pizzas for the night teams, crates of fruit to give vitamins to all the staff, coffee and delicacies, etc. Individuals also responded, with generous donations of masks, visors, overalls and hydro-alcoholic solutions to further strengthen the protection of professionals.
Last but not least, there was a nice surprise from the police on Monday 06/04 at 8.00 pm, who came to pay tribute to the dedication of the staff with a parade of vehicles, flashing lights and sirens. It was an emotional moment.
For all these gestures, the establishment would like to say a big THANK YOU to our professionals and all those who are working to combat this virus.
