On Tuesday 12 January, the OncoPaca Corse regional network issued a press release reporting the first birth in France following oocyte vitrification as part of the cancer and fertility platform.
"a success of life over cancer, a message of hope for patients".
Hôpital Privé La Casamance, a healthcare establishment authorised to treat cancer, the headquarters of 3C11 and a member of the OncoPaca Corse network, signed the Cancer and Fertility Charter in 2014. The aim of this Charter is to raise awareness among professionals working in establishments authorised to provide cancer treatment of a specific kind, so that it can be integrated into the care pathway of patients concerned by the scheme.
Because the chances of recovering from cancer are improving, it is sometimes possible to envisage a parental project after the disease. However, the risks of sterility associated with certain cancer treatments must be taken into account.
Some members of the team in the oncology-chemotherapy department at Hôpital Privé La Casamance will be undergoing training at the beginning of March 2016 so that they can advise our patients and enable them to benefit fully from the scheme.
