Hôpital Privé La Casamance is offering a new therapy to treat phobias (lifts, spiders, claustrophobia, aviophobia, agoraphobia, etc.) and certain addictions (OCD, smoking), called "virtual reality exposure therapy". This involves exposing the patient to an anxiety-provoking situation using a virtual reality headset connected to a smartphone.
To treat phobias, therapists usually use behavioural therapy, which aims to replace negative or erroneous ideas with more realistic thoughts. Virtual reality exposure therapy" adds another ingredient: 3D.
This programme, initiated by Professor LANCON's team at La Conception Hospital in Marseille (programmes run by Dr Eric MALBOS) in partnership with the Toulon-based company C2 CARE, will be offered at La Casamance Private Hospital by Dr Violaine GUBLER.
Indications: phobias, addictions, relaxation.
Coming soon: a specialised programme for eating disorders.
Public: 12 years and over
Price per session: €90
