Since the early 2000s, the Hôpital Privé La Casamance has been developing comprehensive, coordinated care for patients suffering from severe or multi-complicated obesity , in conjunction with local healthcare professionals. This multi-disciplinary approach is illustrated by the patient pathway, which puts patients in contact with expert and qualified professionals at every stage of their care (surgeons, referral nurse, psychiatrist, nutritionist, gastroenterologist, etc.).
This comprehensive care offering provides overweight and/or obese patients with innovative, personalised care.
Specialists in obesity medicine (nutritionists, endocrinologists, dieticians, psychologists) provide care for complex forms of obesity associated with complications or behavioural disorders. For patients with a BMI of between 25 and 35, the clinic offers a personalised weight management programme based on preventive, educational and therapeutic, nutritional, physical, behavioural, psychological and social care.
If these treatments fail, and for patients with a BMI of more than 35 with co-morbidity or more than 40, surgery is proposed.
The clinic offers coordinated care thanks to a dedicated referral nurse, enabling patients to undergo pre-surgery assessments on the same day in day hospital.
In addition, the hospital offers obese patients who have undergone surgery an inpatient or outpatient re-education and therapeutic education programme, involving multidisciplinary care (nutritionist and dieticians, psychologists, physiotherapists).
All former and future patients can take part in monthly workshops and discuss their experiences and feelings.
This therapeutic education programme has been set up in collaboration with the association "Obésité Handicap - Le poids des maux" and "LES METAMORPHO'Z DU SUD". An information and communication website is available at the following address: http: //www.coelioscopie13.com
S.O.F.T programme (Surpoids Objectif Forme Training)
Being overweight often leads to a real loss of self-confidence, a struggle with oneself and sometimes a feeling of loneliness in the face of this illness. The S.O.F.T programme teaches you to eat differently, taking into account the quality of food rather than just its calorific value. The aim is to teach you to manage your stress, your emotions, your relationships with others and your eating urges.
You will be able to take part in group psychotherapy sessions to help you find or rediscover your well-being.
