Medical diagnosis

This refers to all the resources and techniques that enable medical teams to make a diagnosis.

These include general radiology, the senology service, the scanner and MRI service, the scintigraphy or nuclear medicine service and other medical imaging services (doppler, general ultrasound and cardiac ultrasound).

General radiology

Located on the ground floor, the department has a full range of modern equipment (two remote-controlled rooms, a bone and emergency room, panoramic and remote skull imaging).

The Radiology Department at La Casamance private hospital in Aubagne is open to you

  • Monday to Friday, 8am to 6.30pm

The senology department

Entirely dedicated to screening for breast cancer, this unit has four rooms (one for radiology, two for ultrasound and one for macro-biopsy). Among other things, digital mammography examinations are carried out using the latest tools in this field, creating a reference centre for cancer care.

The scanner and MRI department

Asscanners produce ionising radiation, patients are exposed to X-rays in the most appropriate and least harmful way possible. It is used for both diagnostic and interventional purposes.

  • For diagnostic purposes, all anatomical regions can be explored, including the brain, lungs, abdomen, pelvis, bones and joints, cardiovascular system, ENT and teeth.
  • Interventional procedures are becoming increasingly frequent, with the scanner making it possible to guide the procedure carried out with maximum precision.

Treatment and diagnosis CT and MRI :

  • pathology of the cervical, dorsal and lumbar spine (herniated discs, osteoarthritis, narrow canal) :
    • periradicular infiltration of nerves
    • epidural infiltrations
    • posterior joint infiltrations
  • oncology: biopsies of tumours inaccessible to other techniques, a frequent situation in our establishment, which is authorised to treat cancerous pathologies.
  • digestive pathologies: drainage of deep abdominal abscesses in addition to colorectal and bariatric surgery.

MRI does not produce X-rays, as the image is generated by magnetic phenomena (magnet). Exploring all anatomical regions, MRI is particularly used in neurology for the early diagnosis of stroke, Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis. In cancerology, it is used to detect tumours (breast, prostate, etc.) and assess the effectiveness of treatments. In certain situations, MRI cannot be carried out (heart battery, stents implanted less than 3 weeks previously, proven claustrophobia, etc.).

Scintigraphy or nuclear medicine department

The nuclear medicine department is equipped with two gamma cameras. Nuclear medicine is a non-invasive imaging technique using radiotracers to diagnose and monitor a wide range of conditions in most medical and surgical specialities, in particular cardiology, oncology, endocrinology, rheumatology, pneumology and nephrology.

Other medical imaging services

  • Doppler
  • General ultrasound
  • Cardiac ultrasound (2 rooms)
